It was a freezing winter night with snow blowing. My buddy and I were hungry enough to make tracks to the restaurant. They welcomed us and put on a fresh pot of coffee.
I ordered four spicy chicken tacos, my buddy had the quesadilla. They set chips and salsa on the table to help us unthaw. The service here is great, almost like they can read your mind although I wouldn't recommend doing that all the time, it's not as clean as this place.
Turns out my appetite overmatched my stomach. By the third taco, after chips and salsa, I was slowing. They tasted so good though, with red and green salsa, and I was so distracted by which one was better that I ate that fourth one too. Watching in a food daze I noticed the snow outside blowing sideways. The workers mopped up slush customers had tracked in and, I was reminded that I had to go back out there.

We recently found out about Lazos from our very own Yelps 'Hot and New' list of places and couldn't wait to try out a new Taco place!

We decided to come here during lunch and got seated right away. Usually lunch places are super crowded and so I was happy to see that they had people but wasn't full enough that I had to wait for a table. The staff was friendly and got us our menu. A good collection of typical Mexican servings. We wanted to order an omelette and enchiladas however the server warned us that it's a lot of food hence we decided to get just the enchiladas and a taco! Glad she helped us out there! The enchiladas were a great choice with very tender meat and the shrimp taco was perfectly spiced and tasted amazing!

I would love to be back and try out more of their tacos since that could be their forte. Other than that the rest of the food looked pretty regular to normal offerings!

New in town, definitely give it a shot! Yum!

If you are looking for mouthwatering authentic Mexican food, don't look anywhere else! Lazo's Taco Shack offers all you are looking for!

    - Gluten-free:
Homemade corn tortillas. **They still offer flour tortillas for you carb lovers
    - Flavorful:
As a low carb eater, rice, beans, and/or chips are a big NO to me when dinning at Mexican restaurants ... Yet, good luck trying to stop eating the extremely tasty homemade corn tortillas and homemade salsa. Let me tell you about the salsa (aka, pico de gallo); FRESHEST salsa in town (no joke) with just the right amount of kick to it.
My husband and I both ordered the taco dinner, which offers 3 tacos with rice and refried beans. We'll get to the tacos in a second ... As I previously mentioned, I tend to give a big pass on rice and beans at Mexican restaurants as they lack flavor and see no purpose on overloading in tasteless carbs, yet at Lazo's Taco Shack, I devoured all of it. I can only describe the rice/bean combo as a match made in heaven, full of delicious SPICES (not spicy!).
Going back to the tacos (drooling just thinking about them), we both went for Carne Asada and Al Pastor tacos. Our third taco choice were: Carnitas (me) and Tinga, aka Spicy Marinated Chicken (my husband). Not sure if it was the smell of the food, how tasty it looked, or a combination of both, but we forgot to take a picture for our Instagram story ‍‍ (bad millennials). I have had the bad experience that some Mexican restaurants protein/meat options all have the same taste, yet at Lazo's Taco Shack, each taco offered it's own rich and amazing flavor. (seriously, I'm currently drooling just thinking about them).
    - Alcohol:
Yes, Tequila EVERYWHERE! But, it also offers a huge alcohol selection for those who have different taste buds (just like me,  no judgement here!). Beer selection is also on point from your traditional Mexican beers, as well as your Corona's (so excited to found out they also offered Corona premier- low carb for the win!). Highly recommend their Michelada and Paloma!
    - Margaritas:
Sorry, but this bullet point had to be separate from the alcohol one because, OMG, their Margaritas are the BOMB! The bartender was extremely friendly and gave us to try PLENTY of margaritas: top winners: Mango, Passion Fruit, and Signature Margarita. **Cough cough** their Mango Margarita comes with real mango!!!! Highly recommend their signature margarita, aka Cilantro and Jalapeño Margarita! CILANTRO AND JALAPEÑO???? Whaaaaaat??? Yes, you read right! C'mon, you are going to a Mexican Restaurant, you want to see new and unique things. It's light, tasty, and amazing .. Give it a try, you won't regret it! You're welcome, in advance :)
    - Service and Environment:
We learned Lazo's Taco Shack opened recently at the beginning of this month (December 2019). It's a cozy family-owned restaurant! The family - who are also the staff -  takes full pride in their restaurant, which shows in the amazing service! The establishment is extremely clean, which makes it more appealing to the eye! Depending on what time of the day you go, it can be great for family dinning, to the perfect place for dine-in and drinks with friends, to a great date night with your plus one. They also do over the phone orders, so if you decide you don't want to cook that day, pickup the phone and have them prepare your lunch or dinner!

I can truly say, this restaurant is a hidden gem in the middle of the city!

We were lucky to meet the owners during our first visit, who told us a little about what their plans are to come. The most exciting one I will love to share is their soon to come HAPPY HOUR special. Follow them on Facebook and/or Instagram to learn more about it!

Oh! They offer breakfast ALL-DAY long!
    Definitely coming back!

I'm sitting here salivating at the prospect of my meal. I'd been traveling all day and I wanted something warm to fill my belly.
I found Lazo's which is a 2 minute walk from the DoubleTree--thank goodness  its close as it's winter in Milwaukee!
The pictures of the food alone drew me in, but the positive reviews for a place so newly open (it's been 5 days) made me confident I would enjoy my meal.
I walked in and was greeted warmly. Asked if I wanted water and chips/salsa while waiting.
There was a large party enjoying their meal and I sat at the bar while waiting for my order.
I am enjoying my guacamole which was freshly made, and my carne asada. The rice and beans are on point..

The only downside is that I ordered the Carne Asada a la Tampiquena which is steak and a cheese enchilada but I opened my order only to find the carne asada :( I was looking forward to my enchilada but perhaps it's the universe's way of telling me I didn't need the calories hahaha.
If they weren't closed I may have called to let them know as I paid extra for this specific plate. Do  check your order, but my meal has been so good I don't mind.

I wish this place much success and encourage locals to go support this business!

This place is just filled with deliciousness. I had the steak burrito and it was simply perfect. My friend walked past someone eating their food and decided he would try that. Asked the waitress what it was the woman was eating and it turned out to be a delicious steak fajita salad that is an off-menu secret. You must ask for it when you come to try this place.
